Hand/fingers Flashcards
What should you use for demonstrating lumps/bumps on structures?
Metallic BB markers
What should you use to indicate entrance wounds?
Arrows
What must be included on bone images?
Joint to Joint
What is one major requirement for placing multiple images on one cassette?
One image must be in the center of the IR for it to be properly read.
If multiple digits have been ordered on the same extremity you must radiograph each digit _______.
individually
When performing a Bone Age what 4 things must you document?
Age, Gender, Years, Months
What is the routine for Bone Age?
PA Left Hand

Where do you center the IR for fingers 2-5 in PA projection?
PIPJ
Central Ray for Fingers 2-5?
perpendicular to the IR directed to the PIPJ.
Evaluation Criteria for PA Projection of 2-5 fingers
no rotation, concave surface of the phalangeal shafts and equal soft tissue. head of distal phalanx to head of metacarpal.
PA oblique projection of the fingers 2-5
digits will be separated at a 45 degree angle. IR directed towards the PIPJ of the affected digit.
LATERAL PROJECTION for Pointer and Middle
mediolateral
LATERAL PROJECTION for Ring and Pinky
lateromedial
Medial Rotation =
Internal
Lateral Rotation=
External
Fingers and Hand Routine

IPJ, MCPJ, CMCJ
what is another name for the CMCJ?
Basal Joint
CR for PA & Oblique hand
@ 3rd MCPJ
CR for Lateral hand
@ 2nd MCPJ
Why is AP projection preferred on the thumb?
due to magnification with PA
