Visible haematuria
- blood is visible in the urine

Symptomatic non-visible haematuria
- microscopic haematuria that presents with associated symptoms

Asymptomatic non-visible haematuria
- microscopic haematuria with no associated symptoms

What are the urological referral criteria for haematuria?

A

Aged >/= 45 with either

  • unexplained visible haematuria without UTI
  • visible haematuria that persists are successful UTI treatment

Aged 60 with unexplained non-visible haematura and either dysuria or raised WCC
