Medical management of BPH
A
Alpha blocker
- relax smooth muscle
5 a-reductase blocker
- prevent conversion of testosterone to DHT
- decrease in prostatic volume

Surgical management of BPH
A
TURP = trans urethral resection of prostate
- removal of obstructive prostate tissue
