Immune thrombocytopenic purpura
blood disorder where decreased platelets causes internal bleeding, easy bruising, bleeding gums and reddish-purple spots
Immune thrombocytopenia usually happens when your immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys platelets, which are cell fragments that help blood clot. In adults, this may be triggered by infection with HIV , hepatitis or H. pylori — the type of bacteria that causes stomach ulcers
Polycthaemia
also known as erythrocytosis, causes bone marrow to produce too many red blood cell, making blood thicker and harder to transport around the body
Sx - red skin, increased BP, nosebleeds, dizziness, confusion, abdo pain, headaches, tiredness
Tx - hydroxycarbamide, anticoags, interferon
