Radiol Fx.

A
  • Small tubular bones:
  • soft tissue swelling,
  • loss of diaphyseal constriction in medullary cavity.
  • possibility of solid periosteal response
  • hyper plastic marrow formation leading to ‘hair on end’ appearance (can be confused with spiculated periosteal response, but far more widespread)
  • Spine commonest viewed area with:
    • prominent osteoporosis with accentuated vertical trabeculae.
    • Thinned cortices with appearance of “fish” vertebrae or if vertebral body collapse “H” vertebrae. (d/t lack of blood supply to superior and inferior aspects of vert body)
    • displays ‘Exuberant Sclerosis’ in middle vert body
