A
- Small tubular bones:
- soft tissue swelling,
- loss of diaphyseal constriction in medullary cavity.
- possibility of solid periosteal response
- hyper plastic marrow formation leading to ‘hair on end’ appearance (can be confused with spiculated periosteal response, but far more widespread)
- Spine commonest viewed area with:
- prominent osteoporosis with accentuated vertical trabeculae.
- Thinned cortices with appearance of “fish” vertebrae or if vertebral body collapse “H” vertebrae. (d/t lack of blood supply to superior and inferior aspects of vert body)
- displays ‘Exuberant Sclerosis’ in middle vert body
