Mechanism of Action (MOA)?
Lorazepam (Ativan)
MOA:
- High affinity for the gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) benzodiazapine receptor complex without displacing GABA
- Tranquilizing action on the CNS

Indications?
Lorazepam (Ativan)
Indications:
- Status epilepticus
- Seizure
- Agitation/excited delirium

Contraindications?
Lorazepam (Ativan)
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity
- Acute narrow angle glaucoma
- Pregnancy

Adverse Reactions?
Lorezepam (Ativan)
Adverse Reactions:
- Sedation
- Transient amnesia
- Hypotension
- Respiratory depression
- Dizziness, headache

Adult Dose?
Lorazepam (Ativan)
Adult Dose:
- 2 - 5 mg IV/IO slowly (over 2 - 5 minutes) may repeat in 10 - 15 minutes. Max 10 mg. May give IM if no IV/IO access

Pediatric Dose?

Pediatric Dose:
- 0.05 - 0.1 mg/kg IV/IO slowly (over 2 - 5 minutes) may repeat in 10 - 15 minutes. Max 4 mg. May give IM if no IV/IO access.
