Describe the process of plant succession.

A

Pioneer plants which first colonise the land are eventually replaced by secondary plant species, which use the conditions created by the pioneer plants. Eventually as the secondary species grows larger and become more diverse, they take over.

Explain the projected changes in the 21st century.

A

The UN projects a world population of around 9.6 billion by 2050 and 11 billion by the end of the century. Regions accounting for the total word population such as Africa are predicted to rapidly rise by the end of the century, whilst today’s top contesters in Asia are predicted to shrink, from 60% to 43%.
