Age for voting
In 1928 all allowed to vote, men and women over 21.
In 1969 lowered to 18.
House of commons
More important of the two chambers.
House of Lords
until 1958 peers were : hereditary, senior judges or bishops of the Church of England.
Since 1958 the PM has the power to nominate peers just for their lifetime.
Since 1999 hereditary peers have lost the automatic right to attend.
More independent that the house of commons. They can ammend laws that then get discussed by the MPS and they then check that laws passed by the house of commons are fit for purpose. The house of commons has the power to overrule the house of lords but never used it.
Devolved Administrations
Since 1997 - powers devolved to give people in Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland more control over matters that directly affects them.
Welsh Assembly (Senedd) and Scottish Parliament since 1999. There is also a NI assembly but it has been suspended on a few occasions.
