How do God’s covenant with Abraham and God’s covenant with Moses differ?
When talking about God’s covenant with Moses, we are to remember it is part of the same covenant made with Abraham. We might consider it an extension or renewal of that covenant but it is not a new or different covenant
Why are the 10 commandments significant for the covenant?
The beginning of the Jewish law comes into being with these commandments and the other that we then find in later parts of the Torah
3 reasons Moses is significant to the covenant
-He received the covenant from God (the commandments are a new part of the covenant)
-He is chosen to lead the Jewish people back to the promised land/Canaan
-It was through Moses that God freed the Hebrews by parting the read sea, showing commitment to the Hebrews and following through on the promises made to Abraham
3 ways Moses was an example set for Jewish people
-Big leadership figure
-He was faithful to God, it took encouragement but he obeyed in the end
-He trusted God while going through an empty desert - 3 million people and no food and water
