Glossary of Terms VIII Flashcards
Humidistat
An electrical control that is actuated on change if humidity.
Pneumatic Controls
Control devices operated by low pressure air (18-20 PSIG)
Pressurestat
A switch operated by a change in pressure.
Offset (Deviation)
Difference between set point and control point.
Set Point
The control setting of the temperature or pressure that is desired to be maintained.
Bimetal Strip
Two dissimilar metals of unequal expansion rates that are welding together and expand or contract with a change in temperature.
Cooling Compensator
A small fixed resistor heating element wired parallel to a thermostat that operates during the off-cycle causing cooling equipment to turn on sooner to prevent overshoot due to system lag.
Cut-In
Temperature or pressure at which the control circuit closes
Cut-Out
Temperature or pressure at which the control circuit opens.
Dead Band
The point of a control that nothing happens which occurs when the set temperature or pressure is maintained or satisfied.
