Glossary of Terms II Flashcards
Induction
The magnetism produced in a conductor or coil by the flow of current through a conductor. (Also referred to as magnetic induction.)
Insulator
A material that retards the flow of electrons or electricity.
Law of Electric Charges
Like charges repel and unlike charges attract.
Load
Electric devices that consume electrical energy and converts it into heat, light, sound or magnetism, a form of work
Negative
An electrical terminal or charge having a surplus of electrons
Ohm
The unit of measurement of electrical resistance
Positive
An electrical terminal or charge having a deficiency of electrons.
Resistance
The opposition of current flow
Switch
An electrical device that connects or interrupts an electrical circuit
Volt
The unit measurement of electrical potential or voltage.
