13.5 million people in syria need assistance. 5 million are refugees and 6.5 million are displaced within the country.
transnationalism
when immigrants maintain social, economic, and religious to both their communities and immigrant communities.

revitalizing religious movements focused on reorganizing society, by force if necessary, to return to an idealized, purer past.
illiberal democracy
governing system which has elections which choose leaders that actively limit their freedoms.
global identities
identities that are based on shared interests, practices, and values that sweep across international borders.
tribalization
process in which peoples reconnect with their tribal backgrounds.
cultural minorities
ethnic or cultural groups who have become minorities in their native lands due to migrations of other peoples into their lands
cargo cults
revitalizing religious movements which arose in melanesia in the early 20th century in which they aim to accrue material wealth through magical means
ecotourism
visiting another country’s natural preserves
ethnotourism
visting indigenous people. Has become a significant source of income for many cultural minorities.
