Global Warming Flashcards
What is the definition of global warming?
A gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere is generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, CFCs, and other pollutants.
What causes global warming?
This Global warming of the atmosphere is attributed to increased human activities especially the burning of fossil fuels, industry and large scale agriculture such as cattle ranching.
For the love of us please watch the images in the slides I swr this is just sad. Also, I’m typing and not watching my keyboard soo I feel soo proud, I haven’t typed like this in a long while
Okay ill add a couple of aspects from the pictures
List some effects of global warming
Arctic sea is declining, The waters are more acidic, coral reefs have been severely damaged by coral bleaching, new infections and diseases have been emerging, as the ice melts the ocean expands and therefore people can lose their homes, people have been homeless due to climate change-related weather hazards.
What are some negative effects of global warming? (7)
Some negative effects of global warming are-
- Drought conditions in some regions.
- Extreme weather conditions in the number and intensity of storms such as hurricanes.
- Rising sea level as seas get warmer causing coastal flooding.
- Sea level will rise due to melting polar ice caps causing flooding.
- Agriculture may suffer due to drier or very wet conditions.
- Spread of disease may reach further as temperatures increase e.g. West Nile Virus (mosquito-borne) may spread further north to Canada due to warmer air temperatures or longer summers.
- Higher sea temperatures can lead to coral reef bleaching.
Believe it or not but apparently, there are positive effects of global warming, list them, there’s only like 2 tho
-The growing season of some crops may be
extended in some countries. This means more
crops and newer crops that couldn’t be grown
before now can be grown.
- New landmasses may be exposed and become
inhabitable such as in Greenland.
