Q

What is air pollution?

A

atmospheric pollution. It is one of the most dangerous and complex types of pollution because it has far-reaching impacts on both the marine and land environments.

Q

What is smog?

A

smoke and fog since the sky tend to take on the appearance of a smokey fog. Nitrogen oxide, a gas that is present in exhaust fumes, and sunlight triggers chemical reactions that produce brown, grey or white
smog.

Q

What is acid rain?

A

any form of precipitation with high levels of nitric and sulfuric acids. These gases mix with water droplets in the atmosphere creating weak solutions of nitric and
sulphuric acids. When precipitation occurs these solutions fall as acid rain.

Q

What is ozone depletion?

A

One atom of chlorine can destroy more than a hundred thousand ozone
molecules – hence, the depletion of large amounts of ozone – the ‘hole’ in the
ozone layer was first noted in the 1980’s over Antarctica. Since ozone occurs
naturally and CFCs are banned, scientists estimate that by 2070 the hole in
the ozone layer will be closed.

Q

What does the ozone layer do?

A

High in the stratosphere, roughly
6 to 30 miles above the surface, the ozone layer acts like sunscreen, shielding
Earth from potentially harmful ultraviolet radiation that can cause skin
cancer and cataracts (clouding of the eye’s lens) as well as damaged plants.

Q

How can we reduce air pollution?

A

Different sources of energy (natural) just nothing that includes burning stuff, electric vehicles if u rich, The international treaties eg. Paris Agreement & Montreal protocol.
Reforestation
Replace CFC with HFC (Hydrofluorocarbons)
