- Argue that there is no reason to assume today’s developing countries can simply follow the path of the rich world
- Power of TNCs, sell their products to advertise them
- Pharmaceutical TNCs being reluctant to make their medicines available at affordable prices
- Pollution and environmental damage caused by TNCs can affect health
