Glandular Epithelial Function Flashcards
1
Q
Holocrine
A
In holocrine secretion, after the product accumulates, the entire cell ruptures secreting the entire contents of the cell with lots of lipids. Mitosis will replace the dead cell with a new one.
2
Q
merocrine
A
standard exocytosis. vesicles dock at the apical cell membrane and release contents into the secretory portion of the gland. the most common type of exocrine secretion found in salivary, endocrine, and sweat glands
3
Q
apocrine
A
secretory vesicles accumulate at the apical end of the cell. the entire apical end of the cell buds off to become the secretion. includes lipids! the remainder of the cell repairs itself. common to mammary glands.
