autosomal recessive
defective bilirubin conjugation due to a deficiency of UDP glucuronosyltransferase

A
unconjugated hyperbilirubinaemia (i.e. not in urine)!!!!

intercurrent illness,
exercise or fasting

rise in non conjugated bilirubin following prolonged fasting
or IV nicotinic acid
