aspirating stomach contents & measuring pH
Gastric pH should be between
1.5 & 4
Obtain xray to determine
placement PRIOR to beginning any fluids/meds
Assess what before each feeding?
gastric pH & every 4 hours for continuous feeding
Replace enteral tube every
4 weeks
If residual exceeds __ for intermittent feedings or __ hr worth of continuous feeding-stop feeding
100 mL; 2 hr
Goes right into the stomach through abdominal wall—most commonly to provide a means of feeding when oral intake is not adequate
Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG)

residual volume
allow feeding to infuse slowly
Flush with what for PEG
