Describe the pulper systems that are required.
Metal, Glass, and silverware should be automatically rejected to prevent damage. Seawater and freshwater should be included for pulping and flushing, and freshwater for wash down. Dishes should not be stored in room with pulpers.
Pulper diverter valves allow for what?
Pulped food to be discharged overboard or to the CHT system
When should pulled food be diverted to CHT, and when should it be discharge overboard?
Less than 12nm from US shore to CHT tank, greater than 12NM discharge to the sea
How high off the deck must incinerators be welded?
4 inches high minimum
Incinerator rooms must have what type of ventilation?
Forced air or natural exhaust, but must always be negative pressure

Oil Content Monitor, located downstream from the OWS
Why is the overflow point of the Oily Waste Holding Tank located at the bottom of the tank?
The oil and water naturally separate, and the oil will rise. This will allow water to discharge before oil does
High level alarms in the Waste Oil and Oily Waste Holding tanks should sound how far in advance of overflow happening?
2 minutes prior to overflow
