Q

alpha bias and what it leads to

A

-theories which exaggerate differences between males and females, which leads to misrepresentation and devaluation of women compared to men, for example, in the psychosexual stages specifically the phallic stage, boys will have a strong superego whereas women will have a low superego so they are seen as inferior

Q

beta bias and what it leads to

A
  • Theories which ignore/minimise sex differences which leads to the assumption of male findings being applied equally to females, for example fight or Flight was done only on male animals so it is doesnt show what female animals would do- Taylor said women behave in a tend/befriend response because women produce more oxytocin
