practical value, research was presented with dilemma from humanistic perspective as there are multiple factors that can contribute to depression such as a persons past, job, family- limitation because it is difficult to give therapy because of how complex it is and we do not know which is the most influential so we can prioritise that HOWEVER, strength of reductionism because we can pinpoint what the problem is which is the chemical cause and can treat it much more easily

Scientific approach, you must operationalise variables for it to be studied which is a strength because it makes it possible to conduct experiments etc in an objective and reliable way for example the strange situation, strength because it gives psychology a greater credibility and puts it on the same level as natural sciences
