it promotes sexism, due to androcentrism occurring, women are being pathologised as they do not meet the male standards and are deemed as abnormal which is seen when research showed that men are more likely to conduct psychology lectures which then lead to negative stereotypes being in force such as expecting women to be irrational and unable to complete complex tasks as stated by one psychologist, this can lead to discrimination and such expectations and hold women back from reaching their full potential

However by recognising and reflecting on gender bias many researchers navigate as a crucial aspect of the research process and try to prevent this, this is a strength because it can prevent sexism in the real world and therefore provide a healthy development for women
