Gender binary
Conceptualising gender as having two categories; male and female
Gender role
Set of norms, or culturally defined expectations, that define how genders ought to behave.
Stereotype
Very closely related to gender role, a form of stereotype. Thoughts/prejudice about an individual based on the group they belong to.
Intersectionallity
Important here, as gender alone is largely effected by race, ethnicity, social class, sexual orientation etc.
Culture
Gender differences are a product of culture. Seen in eg the study with the Han, who live in patriarchy, and Mosuo, who live matrilineal. In the latter the women are more risk taking, in the Han vice versa.
