Heterogametic sex:
The sex that produces two kinds of gametes and determines the sex of the offspring.
Homogametic sex
The sex that produces one kind of gamete.
Meiotic non-disjunction in meisosis 1:
homologous pairs don’t separate
Meiotic non-disjunction in meiosis II:
Chromatids dont separate.
Trisomic:
1 extra chromosome
Monosomic:
1 less chromosome
Nullisomic:
lack both chromosomes
Polyplody:
More than 2 complete chromosome sets e.g. triploid 3n and tetraploid 4n.
A deletion:
Removes a chromsomal segment
Duplication:
Repeats a segment
Inversion:
Reverses a segment within a chromOsome.
Translocation:
Moves a segment from one chromosome to another nonhomologous chromosomes.
Turners syndrome:
XO
Klinefelters syndrome:
XXY
