1- H.pylori infection (commonest cause)
2- Autoimmune gastritis (pernicious anemia)
3- Viral infections

Symptoms
A
Usually asymptomatic or functional dyspepsia

Diagnosis (3)
A
1- Usually discovered incidentally when a gastric mucosal biopsy is taken at endoscopy. Mucosa may appear reddened or normal.
2- Acute inflammation associated with neutrophilic infiltration
3- Chronic inflammation characterized by mononuclear cells

Treatment
A
No specific treatment is required although eradication treatment of H.pylori often given
