The only two contexts in which a verb begins the sentence:
A question and a command
If there are two verbs in a sentence, the infinite verb comes always…
… at the end
Are you going shopping now?

I go swimming twice a week.
Ich gehe zweimal in der Woche schwimmen.
Are we going out to dinner with the group tomorrow night?

Word order: when discussing plans or giving information about an event, this is ordered TIME-MANNER-PLACE
e.g. Sometimes we walk for hours in the forest
Manchmal [T] gehen wir stundenlang [M] im Wald [P]

Auxiliary verbs…
modify the way the main (conjugated) verb is understood, including modal (possibility) and tense (past/present) verbs.
The 8 key auxiliaries are: may, can, must, should, like, want, let, will
dürfen, können, müssen, sollen, mögen, wollen, lassen, werden
Can I smoke here?
Darf ich hier rauchen?
I intend to spend my holidays in Frankfurt.
Ich will meine Ferien in Frankfurt verbringen.
I’ll do it now, I won’t have time in the next few days.
