G-5 Flashcards
- Group of anchor bolts positioned?
Details are included in the working drawings and approved by a professional engineer
Layout the holes so that their position matches the holes in the base plate of the structural steel. (as per the shop drawings)
Position the template so that the center marks coincide with the string lines
- Protect anchor bolt threads in a concrete placement
Wrapping the bolts with tape, or coating them with grease will protect the threads. Cover exposed threads with a pipe, end of pipe should be covered by mushroom cap.
- Find centre-to-centre location of anchor bolts
Use framing square and tape measure to check diagonals and centre-to-centre distances. Use string lines to locate points halfway between bolt positions
- Uniform contact between the machine base+slab
metal shims are used to level the machine during installation, and the gap must be filled with grout.
- Metal angle iron sometimes embedded outside edge
Angled metal plates are used to protect the edges of loading docks, doorsways, or on exposed corners of colums or walls in high traffic areas. Attach to form using nails, bolts, or wire.
- Secure precast walls to foundation
Weld plates are used to connect pre-cast walls
- BCBC = The distance reinforcing steel must lap
Multiply horizontal bar diameter by 24 vertically
- Smooth formed used in a joining of two slabs
Smooth dowels are used to keep two slabs in alignment. The dowels hold both slabs in place vertically while the smooth surface of the dowels allows the slabs to move horizontally.
- Imperial rebar diameter “10”
Approximate diameter of 10/8” (1 1/4)”
- Type of bolt with a loop called
Loop inserts, designed to use a coil bolt. used to support heavy loads.
- Job constructed reglets made in two pieces
create a groove ready reglet to receive counter flashing or direct embedding of the counter flashing into the concrete during placement
- Type of reglet that needs “no” caulking
PVC Reglet (duplex nails) and (“J” nails)
Window reglet
- The counter-flashing of a reglet
Counter-flashing can be placed into the groove left after stripping a two-piece reglet blockout. The flashing can also be cast directly into the concrete using a one-piece reglet blockout.
- What’s a reglet and location
A reglet is a continuous groove that is cut or formed into a wall, usually above the point of intersection with a flat roof.
- What’s a roof membrane
Type of roofing system for buildings (found off google)
