A
- PAINFUL LEG LESION caused by bacillus fusiformis, t. vincentii, predisposed by malnutrition
- aka TROPICAL FOOT; rapidly spreading and sloughing
- necrotizing skin lesion and leg subcut tissues that starts at point of trauma and develops quick.
- deep ULCER(bone/tendons) w. raised border and central crater with putrid exudates.
- complications: TIBIAL OSTEOMYELITIS, SCC

-destructive face lesion caused by t. vicentii, B.fusiformis, bacteroides spp, corynebacterium sp that affects MALNOURISHED ppl
-gangrenous stomatitis, cancrum oris (mouth/two face)
-rapidly progressive necrosis of soft tissue, bones of mouth and face.
SX: usually unilateral disfiguring ulcer, malodorous, painful, necrosis –> exposes bone.
FOR BOTH NOMA AND TROPICAL PHAGEDENIC ULCER: ab helps, need reconstructive surgery. FATAL UNTX.
