A

primary amebic meningoencephalitis is rare and fatal (w/i hrs) dz. less than 300 cases.
naegleria fowler: SOIL (ponds/lakes in tropical, SWIMMING)
—cribriform plate –> olfactory nerve, bulb–> MENINGES, BRAIN –> vascular congestion, purulent exudate (CSF: amebas, blood, PMNs)
or –>amelomas (solid mass of amebomas)
SX: sudden fever, N+V, headache
