Fuel System Flashcards
How many pounds of fuel does the T-6B hold?
1100 pounds of usable fuel is available through the single-point refueling system. An additional 100 lbs is available if manually filled to the base of the filler neck.
How many gallons of fuel does the T-6B hold?
164 gallons
add 15 gallons if gravity refueld
What does the autobalance system keep the fuel weight difference between wings within?
20 pounds
How does the autobalance system control the fuel level in each tank?
The transfer valve will close the motive flow line to the light tank, stopping fuel in the light tank from being transferred to the collector tank.
What will cause the FUEL BAL caution message to illuminate?
- If fuel imbalance is not reduced to less than 30 pounds in 2 minutes. The system will also shut off and the FUEL BAL message will remain illuminated until the system is reset.
- If a fuel probe fails
What activates the red FUEL PX warning?
Low pressure switch when their is less than 10 psi fuel pressure in the motive flow/return flow supply line.
When is the green BOOST PUMP advisory illuminated?
- Manually by selecting the boost pump switch ON.
- Automatically by the low-pressure switch if the PCL is above IDLE
- whenever the starter is engaged, regardless of fuel pressure
What activates the L FUEL LO and R FUEL LO caution messages?
They are activated by optical sensors and indicate fuel quantity below approximately 110 pounds in the respective wing tank. The optical sensors are independent of the fuel probes and fuel quantity gages.
When does the green M FUEL BAL advisory illuminate?
When the fuel balance switch is in the MAN/RESET position.
How many fuel probes does the FQIS use?
Seven. Three in each wing tank, and one in the collector tank.
What indications will you get if a fuel probe fails?
FUEL BAL cauation and FP FAIL caution on EICAS. If the fuel gage does not show an imbalance, then the failed probe is not being used to sense fuel.
How is fuel supplied from by the collector tank in inverted flight?
A weighted rod in the pickup valve closes off the normal fuel pickup, and opens the inverted flight fuel pickup. This provides a minimum of 15 seconds of fuel regardless of orientation.
What is the purpose of the electric boost pump?
- To provide fuel for engine start
- Serve as a backup to the engine-driven low pressure fuel pump
What would happen if the engine driven low pressure fuel pump and the electric boost pump both failed?
The engine driven high pressure fuel pump will suction feed sufficient fuel for continued engine operation, but will not allow an engine restart.
