EP Critical Action Items Flashcards
Abort Start
- PCL - OFF; or STARTER switch - AUTO/RESET
Chip Detector Warning
- PCL - minimum necessary to intercept ELP; avoid unnecessary PCL movements
- PEL - Execute
Fire in flight
If fire is confirmed:
- PCL - OFF
- FIREWALL SHUTOFF handle - PULL
If fire is extinguished:
- Forced landing - EXECUTE
If fire is not extinguiished:
- EJECT (BOTH)
If fire is not confirmed:
- PEL - Execute
Compressor Stalls
- PCL - slowly retard below stall threshold
- DEFOG switch - ON
- PCL - slowly advance (as required)
If power is sufficient for continued flight:
- PEL - Execute
If power is insufficient to complete PEL:
- PCL - OFF
- FIREWALL SHUTOFF handle - PULL
- Execute forced landing or Eject
Engine failure immediately after takeoff
(sufficient runway remaining straight ahead)
- AIRSPEED - 110 KTS (minimum)
- PCL - As required
- EMERG LDG GR HANDLE - PULL (as required)
- Flaps - As required
Abort Takeoff
- PCL - IDLE
- Brakes - As required
Engine failure during flight
- ZOOM/GLIDE - 125 KTS (minimum)
- PCL - OFF
- Intercept ELP
- Airstart - Attempt if warranted
If conditions do not warrant an air start:
- FIREWALL SHUTOFF HANDLE - PULL
- Execute forced landing or eject
Emergency engine shutdown on the ground
- PCL - OFF
- FIREWALL SHUTOFF handle- PULL
- Emergency Ground Egress - As required
Forced Landing
- Airspeed - 125 KIAS prior to extending landing gear
- EMERG LDG GR handle - PULL (as required)
- Airspeed - 120 KIAS minimum until intercepting final; 110 KIAS minimum on final
- Flaps - As required
Emergency Ground Egress
- ISS mode selector - SOLO
- Seat safety pin - INSTALL (BOTH)
- PARKING BRAKE - As required
- Canopy - OPEN
If canopy cannot be opened or situation requires right side egress:
- CFS handle - ROTATE AND PULL (BOTH)
- Upper fittings, lower fittings, and leg restraint garters - RELEASE (BOTH)
- BAT, GEN, and AUX BAT switches - OFF
- Evacuate aircraft
Oil System malfunction or Low oil pressure
If only amber OIL PX caution illuminates:
- Terminate maneuver
- Check oil pressure; if oil pressure is normal, continue operations
If red OIL PX warning illuminates and/or amber OIL PX caution remains illuminated for 5 seconds:
- PCL - minimum necessary to intercept ELP; avoid unnecessary PCL movements
- PEL - Execute
Immediate Airstart (PMU NORM)
- PCL - OFF
- STARTER switch - AUTO/RESET
- PCL - IDLE, above 13% N1
- Engine instruments - monitor ITT, N1, and Oil Pressure
If airstart is unsuccessful:
- PCL - OFF
- FIREWALL SHUTOFF handle - PULL
- Execute Forced Landing or Eject
If airstart is successful:
- PCL - As required after N1 reaches idle RPM (Approximately 67% N1)
- PEL - Execute
Low fuel Pressure
- PEL - execute
- BOOST PUMP switch - ON
Uncommanded power changes/
Loss of Power/
Uncommanded propeller feather
- PCL - mid range
- PMU switch - OFF
- PROP SYS circuit breaker - PULL, if NP stable below 40%
- PCL - as required
If power is sufficient for continued flight:
- PEL - Execute
If power is insufficient to complete PEL:
- PROP SYS circuit breaker - RESET
- PCL - OFF
- FIREWALL SHUTOFF handle - PULL
- Execute forced landing or Eject
OBOGS Inoperative
