Fuel System Flashcards
What fuel pressure indication is on the MFD when booster pump is OFF?
NO indication
What do the Pressure Tranducers do?
Monitor pressure on each fuel feeding line and transmit the information to the MAU’s
Regarding the pressure tranducers what happens if the SOV is OFF?
No pressure signal is sent by the pressure tranducers - because they come after the SOV in the system
What is the TOTAL fuel capacity of the AW139? with and without AUX tank
1270 KG (1588 litres), 1670 KG (2088 litres)
What is the capacity of the Auxillary fuel tank?
400 KG (500 litres)
At what weight of fuel will cross-filling begin?

At 228 KG in each tank
At what fuel level does the FUEL LOW warning become activated?
92 KG (per tank)
If secondary fuel probe is in failure will the LOW LEVEL warning still actuate?
YES. The 92 KG sensor is independent from the second fuel probe
Do you lose the FUEL LOW caution (below 92 kg level per tank) if the FCU fails?
NO
On the fuel section of the default Power Plant page what pressure does the fuel reach for the indicator to be in the Amber?
0.5 bar
What does FCU mean?
Fuel Computer Unit
The FCU compensates the fuel quantity indication for roll attitude between what limits?
+/- 5 degrees
What four things are provided on the SUMP plates?
- Fuel Booster Pump 2. Secondary fuel quantity probe with low level sensor 3. Fuel Drain Valve 4. Water Drain Valve
In the case of fire, the SOV 1 is automatically closed when what action is carried out?
When the ENG 1 guarded push button on the FIRE EXTING panel is pressed
In the case of fire, the SOV 2 is automatically closed when what action is carried out?
When the ENG 2 guarded push button on the FIRE EXTING panel is pressed
What does it mean when one of the readouts on the Fuel Quantity gauge turns GREY?
That tank can NO LONGER supply fuel because the boost pumpt is inop and the fuel level is below the L line of 228 kg

How can you use the unusable fuel in the tank indicated with the GREY fuel quantity value?
CLOSE the X-FEED

What Ng is required for the Fuel Flow data to be displayed on the MFD?
> 62% Ng
Where is the data for the Fuel Flow computations derived?
EEC, ADS (TAS)
Where can FUEL test be carried out?
ONLY on the GROUND
What does “1(2) FUEL PUMP” Caution mean?
Associated fuel pressure low (Less than 0.6 bar), Goes out when pressure above 0.7 bar

What does “1-2 FUEL PUMP” Caution mean?
Fuel pressure low (less than 0.6 bar) in both fuel systems

At What fuel amount does the fuel quantity readout turn grey?
- XFEED -> open - 1(2) fuel pump caution active AND - 1(2) fuel quantity < 228 kg

What is the design purpose for the 228KG capacity that can’t be transferred?
Each tank retains a maximum of about 228 kg that cannot be transferred to the other tank: this permits a suitable amount of fuel to be saved in case of rupture of one of the tanks.
