Fuel Flashcards
Explain the meaning of an illuminated Main Tank Fuel Pump LOW PRESSURE light
- Fuel pump output pressure is low OR
- FUEL PUMP switch is OFF
Note: Two LOW PRESSURE lights illuminated in the same tank illuminate MASTER CAUTION and FUEL system annunciator lights
Note: One LOW PRESSURE light causes MASTER CAUTION and FUEL system annunciator lights to illuminate on a MASTER CAUTION recall.
Ok that follows the single/dual channel fault logic of the master caution system.
VOL 2/12.1.1
Describe the logic of the blue crossfeed VALVE OPEN light
Bright blue:
- valve in transit or
- valve position and CROSSFEED selector disagree
Dim blue:
- Valve is open (and crossfeed valve is open)
Extinguished:
- valve is closed (and crossfeed valve closed)
VOL 2/ 12.1.1
Describe the logic of the blue ENGINE VALVE CLOSED and SPAR VALVE CLOSED lights
Bright blue:
- valve in transit or
- valve position and engine start lever or engine fire warning swtich disagree
Dim blue:
- Valve is closed
Extinguished:
- valve is open
VOL 2/ 12.1.1
Describe the meaning of an illuminated fuel FILTER BYPASS light
Impending fuel filter bypass due to contaminated filter
VOL 2/ 12.1.1
Describe the meaning of a fuel quantity LOW alert
Displayed (amber) - fuel quantity less than 2000lbs in related main tank
Note: the fuel quantity digits on tank(s) with low fuel quantity turn AMBER too (when it shows less than 2.00 on each side)
VOL 2/ 12.1.3
Describe the meaning of a fuel CONFIG alert
Displayed (amber):
- either engine running
- center fuel tank quantity greather than 1600lbs and both center fuel tank pumps producing low or no pressure (so they are turned off most likely)
Note: the quantity digits on the center tank fuel quantity indicator turn amber.
Note: the center fuel tank pumps being OFF can cause this!
VOL 2/ 12.1.3
Describe the meaning of a fuel IMBAL alert
Displayed (amber):
- main tanks differ by more than 1000lbs (IN FLIGHT only?)
- displayed below main tank with lower fuel quantity
- displayed when airplane is on the ground or in the air
- inhibited by fuel LOW indication when both indications exist
- displayed until imbalance is reduced to 200lbs
Note: the fuel quantity digits on tank with lower fuel quantity turn amber
VOL 2/ 12.1.3
Describe two ways to close the spar and engine fuel shutoff valves
- Place the engine start lever to CUTOFF
- Pull the engine Fire Warning Switch (handle)
VOL 2/ 7.2.4 & 8.2.2.2
Explain how fuel is supplied to the engines with all pumps operating
- Center tank pumps produce higher pressure than main tank pumps. This ensures that center tank fuel is used to almost zero before main tank fuel.
Note: when main tank fuel pump pressure is low, each engine can draw fuel from its corresponding main tank through a suction feed line that bypasses the pumps
VOL 2/ 12.2.2.2
What is the meaning of a fuel CONFIG alert?
select all that apply
This was a fucked up question.
- 3701-3771: Either engine is running, the center fuel tank quantity is greater than 1600lbs, and both center fuel tank pumps are producing low or no pressure (THE CENTER PUMPS BEING OFF CAN CAUSE THIS)
- 3772-3777: Either engine is running, the center fuel tank quantity is greater than 1600 lbs, and both center fuel tank pump switches are positioned OFF

True or False:
A fuel FILTER BYPASS light indicates an impending fuel filter bypass due to a contaminated filter?
TRUE
ESV-SA: Fuel
Which statement is true regarding a fuel quantity LOW alert?
A LOW alert illuminates AMBER when fuel quantity is less than 2000lbs in related main tank
ESV-SA: Fuel
A fuel IMBAL alert will display if the main tanks differ by more than…
1000lbs in flight or on the ground
ESV-SA: Fuel
A bright blue crossfeed VALVE OPEN light indicates the valve is..
select all that apply
- in transit
- closed and the selector is in the open position
ESV-SA: Fuel
With fuel in all the tanks and all fuel pumps on, what is the normal fuel feed sequence?
Center tank to both engines until almost zero, then main tanks to their respective engine
