What are adverbs?
Words that describe anything that isn’t a noun or pronoun
E.g.: She ran quickly. She drove fast.
What are the 4 functions of adverbs?
To describe:
- Time (e.g. He arrived early.)
- Place (e.g. He went away.)
- Degree (e.g. He behaved poorly.)
- Manner (e.g. He did fairly well.)
What is a preposition?
Words that tell you about the relationships between things in time and space.
E.g.: He hid under the bed.

What is a prepositional phrase?
A group of words that do the role of a preposition.
E.g. : under the house
What is a phrasal preposition?
A multi word preposition
E.g. In front of, next to, by the side of
