Describe the Oral Stage
A
- The first stage of psychosexual development (Age Birth-1)
- Mouth is the focus of pleasure
- Successful completion demonstrated by weaning
- Fixation can happen if child has completed oral stage too soon/late
- Late/Soon fixation leads to activities such as :smoking, vaping, etc.

Describe the Anal Stage
A
- The second stage of psychosexual development (Age 1-3)
- Anus is the focus of pleasure (focused on controlling bowel movements)
- Successful completion of stage can be shown by being able to use proper toilet training techniques
- Fixation can happen if parent is too strict/lenient
- If not potty trained by age of 3, can lead to anal character

Describe what is meant by an anal character
A
- An anal character is thought of someone with an extreme need to control their environment (OCD-like behaviour)
- The person with an anal personality will also have an obsessive attention to detail and will only be observant to their own way of living

A
- The fourth stage of psychosexual development (Age 6-12)
- Friendship is the focus of pleasure (usually same sex)
- No particular observation for successful completion
- Gender Identification also takes place (Penis)

Describe the Genital Stage
A
- The final stage of Psychosexual development (Age 12-Puberty)
- The task is to develop a healthy adult relationship
- Should happen depending on whether the other stages have been completed successfully

- During those times, Men were the powerful gender
- Men were identifies by the woman by their penis
- So having a penis would show their strength and power in society
