How should foreign items in the eyes be managed?

A
  • pull down lower lid, remove unembedded object with clean tissue
  • try pulling upper lid forward if not in the inner lid
  • turn eyelid with swab stick, remove object with clean tissue
  • flush with water
  • if it’s still there apply dry protective dressing over eye and get professional help
  • keep victim from rubbing the eye

A
  • breath through mouth
  • make the patient sneeze on the opposite side of the nose
  • dont remove with a pin of a hook

  • put warm oil to float out an insect
  • other form of objects, don’t attempt to remove, may damage the ears
  • take the patient to a doctor

A
  • safe to remove small objects
  • use tweezers
  • if under skin, used a sterilized needle to gentle break the skin over the object and life the object
  • more deeply embedded, call for medical help
