How do you relieve chest discomfort?
A
- cold pack for muscle strain
- self-treatment (for heartburn, avoid lying down for 2 hrs, avoid fats, chocolate, citrus foods)

What is the long form of CPR and when do you use it?
A
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is used when someone’s heartbeat or breathing stops to oxygenate the brain.

A
- To maintain an open and clear airway
- To maintain blood circulation by external cardiac massages
- to maintain cerebral circulation

- ventricular fibrillation

What are the steps of performing CPR?
A
- approach safely
- check response (shake shoulders gently)
- shout for help
- open airway - head tilt, chin lift + jaw thrust
- check breathing
- call emergency number
- 30 chest compressions
- 2 rescue breaths

How are chest compressions done in CPR?
A
- heel of one hand in the centre of the chest with the other hand on top (interlock fingers)
- compress the chest (100 to 120 compressions with 4 to 5 cm of depth)
- change operator abt every 2 mins

How are rescue breaths done in CPR?
A
- pinch the nose
- take normal breath and place lips over mouth
- blow until the chest rises then wait abt 1 sec for chest to fall
- repeat
