FN SIMS/FLIGHTS (corrupted) Flashcards
AFMAN11-2T-6V3
Is the KLN-900 “baro-aided”?
Yes
3.6.6.4
AFMAN11-202V3
What is the difference between RAIM and FDE?
“RAIM requires at least five satellites with good geometry to detect a faulty signal and alert the aircrew; FDE requires six.”
9.6
AFMAN11-2T-6V3
Can we use the GPS with a RAIM failure?
- Day VMC Local, Dual - YES
- Day VMC Local, Solo - YES
- IMC, Night, X-Contry/O&B, Dual or Solo - NO
Day VMC local acceptable for missions other than low-level nav.. Day VMC
IFG Table 4.1 MEL
AFMAN11-2T-6V3
Can we use the GPS with a FDE failure?
“A loss of FDE constitutes an unacceptable degredation of system performance. In order to meet the requirements of AFMAN11-202V3, aircrews will ensure FDE indicates “YES” before using GPS as a primary source of IFR navigation within the National Airspace System.”
3.6.6.3
AFMAN11-2T-6V3
How do you load RNAV (T and Q) routes into the KLN-900?
“It is not possible to retrieve entire RNAV T and Q routes from the database of the KLN-900; however, extracting individual named fixes from the database is permitted…” “Aircrew will set the course deviation index (CDI) to terminal sensitivity (1 nautical mile [nm]) on the Mode page when utilizing RNAV as an alternate or substitute for traditional navigational aids (NAVAIDS).”
3.6.6.5.3
AFMAN11-2T-6V3
How do you recognize a RAIM failure enroute?
Message on the KLN-900 says so
AFMAN11-2T-6V3
What do you do if the RAIM fails past the RNAV FAWP?
Press the button on the right side of the EADI/EHSI and it will return to Apch Arm mode and you get your blue needles back, able to navigate to the missed apch point (with the little ‘-m’)

What is the PAVE acronym?
Another way to mitigate risk is to perceive
hazards. By incorporating the PAVE checklist
into preflight planning, the pilot divides the risks
of flight into four categories: Pilot-in-command
(PIC), Aircraft, enVironment, and External
pressures (PAVE) which form part of a pilot’s
decision-making process.
