Fluid and Electrolytes Flashcards
1
Q
Diffusion
A
the movement of molecules from and area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration
2
Q
Colloid osmotic pressure
A
pressure created by Plasma proteins. Pulls fluid back into blood vessels at venous end of the capillary bed. Also called oncotic pressure.
3
Q
If fluid moves from the interstitial space to the blood, what would you expect to find when assessing the skin?
A
dry skin with poor turgor
4
Q
Glucose attracts water. It is an osmotic diuretic. So, if the blood sugar is high and the kidney filters out some of the excess sugar, what will be the result?
A
Water will be eliminated
