ODV

HOPS

A
  1. Hot Start Prevention shuts fuel flow at 900°C, NG <60%, NP <50%.
  2. Over-speed protection (NP) from DEC at 120+1%
  3. Purges main fuel manifold and allows back flow of high-pressure air for purging.
  4. Sends fuel through manifold to 12 injectors for starting, acceleration, engine ops.

Q

HMU

Basic fuel control; incl. high pressure fuel pump & variable geometry servo-actuator.

(PM CAN VDTO)

A
  1. Pumps fuel at high pressure
  2. Meters fuel to ODV in response to PAS, LDS, torque motor from DEC, & engine variables.
  3. Collective Pitch Compensation through the LDS. When the collective is moved, NG is reset for immediate NP response.
  4. Acceleration/Deceleration flow limiting preventing compressor stalls, engine damage, or flame out.
  5. NG limiting – Limits max torque available under low temp conditions.
  6. Variable Geometry Positioning of the inlet guide vanes for optimum performance.
  7. DEC/EDECU lockout PAS Override & Control with DEC/EDECU Inoperative. Allows pilot to mechanically bypass torque motor inputs.
  8. Torque Motor to Trim NG Output. To fine tune engine output. Can be overridden in DEC lockout.
  9. Opens Vapor Vent for manual HMU priming, to remove air from HMU.

Q

DEC

Controls electrical functions of engines and transmits operation info to cockpit.

(IN FLT HHOT)

A
  1. Isochronous NP Governing. DEC will maintain NP reference
  2. NP Reference from the cockpit, (INCR/DECR from 96-100%)
  3. Fault Indication. DEC code sent to corresponding ENG Q indicator and the FMS DEC status page.
  4. Load Sharing/Torque Matching. Increase Q of low side to match up to 3% NP above reference.
  5. Transient Droop Compensation. 4-1 improvement to compensate for transient rotor droop. Uses coll. pos. transducer signal.
  6. History Counter. Sends signals to History Counter.
  7. Hot Start Preventer. Tells ODV to shut off fuel when 900°C is reached, NG<60, NP<50.
  8. Overspeed Protection. Triggered when NP reaches 120±1%.
  9. TGT Limiting. Limits fuel flow when reaching approx. 879⁰ dual engine, 903⁰ (2½min) when opposite Q is < 50%.

Engine Alternator

Three windings for three functions:

A
  1. NG signal to cockpit tachometer. (green)
  2. Ignition power to the exciters during start. (yellow)
  3. DEC power. (yellow) Loss of alt. does not result in high side failure
