Q

What is the cycle of flowering plants?

A

1) Development: development of flowers which contain male and female organs
2) Pollination: transportation of pollen from the anther in the stamen to the stigma in the pistil
3) Fertilization: the union of a male and female sex cell
4) Fructification: formation of fruit containing seeds
5) Germination: development of the embryo inside the seed which grows roots and a stalk

Q

What parts are in the stamen and what are their purposes?

Q

What parts are in the pistil and what are their purposes

A

Q

What are the steps of self pollination?

A

1) pollen is transferred from anther to the stigma
2) pollen tubes grow from the pollen grains to the ovules
3) sperm cells move from the pollen tubes into the ovules, fertilizing the eggs in the ovules
4) the petals fall off the flower
5) the fertilized ovules become seeds
