Airspeed Trend Vecor
Indicates predicted airspeed in 10 seconds based on current acceleration or deceleration
Bottom of Airspeed Amber Bar
indicates the maximum maneuvering speed. This airspeed provides
1.3 g maneuver capability to high speed buffet
Top of Airspeed Amber Bar
Top of amber bar indicates minimum maneuvering speed. This airspeed provides:
• 1.3 g maneuver capability to stick shaker below approximately 20,000 feet
Top of Airspeed Black/Red Bar
Minimum Airspeed
Indicates the airspeed where stick shaker activates
Altitude Trend Vector
- altitude to reach in 6 sec based on current vertical speed
- length of vector is 1/10th of vertical speed
Components of Large Display System (LDS)
- Adaptive Flight Displays (AFD) - CA AFD, Center AFD, FO AFD
- Display Control Panels (DSP) - L and R
- Display Dimmer Panels (DDP) - L and R
- Graphics Generator Units (GGU) - 3 located in avionics bay
IRS Selector Switch
Blank/Normal Position - Right IRS is the source for Right GGU
ALTN - Center IRS is source for Right GGU
Flashing Align Light
Alignment cannon be completed
– Significant difference between previous and entered positions
– Unreasonable present position entry
– No present position entry
IRS ON DC light illuminated
Normal AC power for the related IRS has failed and the IRS is operating on DC backup
power from the hot battery bus (AC power not normal)
Description of IRS
- 3 IRUs
- IRS Mode Control Panel
- Calculates:
aircraft position
acceleration
track
vertical speed
groundspeed
true and magnetic heading
wind speed and direction.
IRS Alignment times
Normal: 10 mins (7 remains displayed for 3 mins)
Fast: 30 sec (NAV to Align and back to NAV)
High Altitude: 17 mins (selector in Align mode)
Normal and Standby Power Source for IRS
Normal - AC power
Standby - Aircraft Main Battery
*left and center IRS limited to 5 mins on standby power
IRS output information
• IRS Outputs (“HATSWAP”):
o H - Heading o A - Acceleration o T - Track o S - Speed o W - Wind o A - Attitude o P - Position
When does ON APPROACH logic become active
- approach procedure become active route
- 12NM to destination
- MAP is active waypoint and within 25 NM
- Flaps Extended
