Illuminations of Probe Heat Light
- probe(s) is/are not being heated inflight or engine not running on the ground
- if TAT not heated Autothrottles will disconnect

- engines (pneumatically)
- wings (pneumatically)
- flight deck windows (electrically)
- Probes (electrically)
Protections provided when engine anti-ice is activated
- engine ignition is automatically activated for flameout prevention
- reference bug displayed on N1 during single engine operation
- Max EPR limits are automatically reduced
Which portion of the wing is protected by the anti ice system
- 3 mid wing leading edge slats (757)
- 3 outboard leading edge slats (767)
- wing anti-ice inhibited on the ground
Flight Deck window protection
- electrically heated
- fwd windows have anti-icing and anti-fogging protection
- side windows have anti-fogging protection
- all windows have overheat protection
When are windows heated?
- window heat switch ON
- electrical power supplied to the aircraft
When are probes heated?
- Pitot and AOA after engine start
- TAT inflight only
What happens with Fuel Jettison switch is selected ON (767)
- WINDOW HEAT EICASE displays
- electrical power for the aft-most cockpit window heat (L-3 and R-3) is load shed
Ice Crystal Conditions
♦ Amber or red weather radar returns below aircraft
♦ Appearance of liquid water on windshield at temperatures too cold for rain (sound is
different than rain)
♦ Autothrottle unable to maintain selected airspeed
♦ TAT indication stays near 0° C
