Pulling Engine Fire Switch
- closes engine and spar fuel valve
- closes hydraulic shutoff valve and depressurizes pump
- closes engine bleed valve
- trip generator
- arms both fire bottles
- silences fire bell
- disables reverse thrust
*left fire switch closes APU bleed Valve (757)
CARGO FIRE SWITCH DEPR
- Shuts down recirculating fan
- Shuts down right pack (two pack operation)
- Commands remaining pack to low flow
- Closes valves supplying air to cargo areas
- Closes main deck zone trim air valves
- Silences fire warning bell
- Illuminates warning in lavatory
- gradual depressurization initiates to approximate flight level
Wheel Well Fire light
fire is detected in one or both of the main gear wheel wells
Pulling APU Fire Switch
- closes APU fuel valve
- closes APU Bleed Valve
- trips generator
- arms fire bottle
- shuts down APU
APU fire on the ground
With both engines shutoff:
- APU shuts down
- APU Bottle discharged
APU Fire Switch on Fire Protection Panel
- Closes APU fuel valve
- trips the APU generator OFF
- Closes APU bleed valve
- shuts down APU
- Arms APU fire extinguisher bottle
- Silences fire warning bell and horn

- Engines (detection and extinguishing)
- APU (detection and extinguishing)
- wheel well (detection)
- cargo compartments (detection, warning, and suppression)
How many engine detector loops
- dual fire loops
- dual overheat loops
- both must detect fire or overheat
- if one loop fails system configures to single loop
Engine Fire Warning
- Fire bell sounds
- Master WARNING lights illuminate
- Engine Fire switch LEFT or RIGHT Fire Warning light illuminates
- Discrete FIRE Warning light illuminates
- Engine Fuel Control switch Fire Warning light illuminates
- EICAS warning message displays L or R ENGINE FIRE
- Engine Fire switch unlocks
How many Fire Bottles
- 2 engine fire bottles (both can be used in a single engine)
- 1 APU
APU detector loops
- Dual Fire detection loops
- both must sense fire
- fault in a single loop will reconfigure system to single loop mode
APU Fire Warning
- The fire bell sounds
- The master WARNING lights illuminate
- The APU fire warning light illuminates
- The discrete FIRE warning light illuminates
- The EICAS warning message APU FIRE displays
- The APU automatically shuts down
- The APU fire switch unlocks

Cargo Smoke Detection System
Main Cargo - 12 smoke detectors (dual loop): one detector activates a fire warning
FWD Cargo - 2 smoke detectors (dual loop): both detectors needed to activate fire warning
AFT Cargo - 2 smoke detectors (dual loop): both detectors needed to activate fire warning
E&E exhaust fans (Main and AFT) and recirc fans (FWD) draw air through smoke detectors and vent through outflow valve
FWD and AFT Cargo Compartment Fire Extinguishing (767)
- 3 fire bottles
- when discharged Bottle 1 discharges immediately
- Bottles 2 and 2a discharge after 30 mins or upon landing if under 30 mins
- Bottles 2 and 2a discharge at a reduced rate
