Q

What do the ground spoiler advisory lights, ROLL OUTBD & ROLL INBD,
indicate?

A

Two ground extension advisory lights, ROLL INBD and ROLL OUTBD, located adjacent to the Flight /Taxi switch, illuminate when the inboard and outboard spoiler extend in the ground mode at touch down.

Q

What 3 conditions must be met on touch down for the spoilers to extend?

A

In order for the spoilers to extend in the ground mode on landing, the FCECU and PSEU must confirm the following conditions:

· The FLIGHT/TAXI switch(left glareshield) is in the FLIGHT (up) position and,
· Both power levers are at or aft of the FLIGHT IDLE gate and,
· The PSEU is receiving a Weight-On-Wheels signal from the left and right main landing gear

Q

What is the degree of full rudder travel?

A

Full rudder travel of 18° left or right of center is available when the Flap selector lever is moved out of the 0° flap detent position. However, rudder travel is limited to approximately 12° left or right of center when the Flap selector lever is in the 0° flap detent position.

Q

What is the function of the powered flight control shutoff switchlights?

A

Full rudder travel of 18° left or right of center is available when the Flap selector lever is moved out of the 0° flap detent position. However, rudder travel is limited to approximately 12° left or right of center when the Flap selector lever is in the 0° flap detent position.

Q

If the roll spoilers do not deploy or props do not move into discing upon
landing should you increase or relax forward pressure on the control
column?

A

Do not apply forward pressure on the control column once the nosewheel is on the runway. Forward pressure on the control column after landing creates uplift on main wheels, which can decrease braking

Q

When does the Flap Auto Pitch Trim operate?

A

During flap extension or retraction (15° to 35° or 35° to 15°), the AFCS supplies automatic pitch trim commands to the elevator control system to reduce the pitch trim forces felt on the control columns.

Q

If the electric trim is in motion for more than 3 seconds, what happens?

A

If the FCECU detects that a manual pitch trim command persists for longer than three seconds( i.e. switch is manually held or sticks), an aural clicking sound will be heard over the flightdeck speakers and the ELEVATOR TRIM SHUTOFF switchlights, located on the left and right sides of the glareshield panel, illuminate.

Q

When operating flaps, will the Flap Auto Pitch Trim operate if the pilot
operates the electric trim?

A

No

The Flap Auto Pitch Trim is deactivated when any of the following conditions exist:

a manual pitch trim is commanded by either the Captain or First Officer

Q

How is the angle of attack (AOA) transducer’s heat turned on and off?

A

The left and right AOA vanes are automatically heated to prevent ice buildup whenever 115-volt variable AC power is available

Q

Are the ailerons mechanically operated or hydraulically powered?
The spoilers?
The rudder?
The elevator?

A

The ailerons are mechanically controlled and operated.

The spoilers are mechanically controlled and hydraulically powered.
SDM 9-19

Yaw control is provided by a mechanically controlled, hydraulically powered rudder.
SDM 9.13

Pitch control of the airplane is maintained by two mechanically controlled, and hydraulically powered elevators.

Q

Which Spoilers deploy on the Ground?

A

Both valves open together to allow the spoilers to extend on the ground. When the lift-dump valves are energized open, extension pressure is sent to the spoiler PCUs fully extending both inboard and outboard spoilers.
