Flexibility training Flashcards
Static Stretching
lengthening the muscle just beyond the point of resistance and hold for 10-30s repeat 3-6 times
ACTIVE: position held with no assistance other than the strength of the agonist muscle, contract the agonist an hold for 10-15 secs
PASSIVE: moves joint to position with assistance and hold for 10-30s
Isometric stretching
Isometrically contracting the muscle while holding a stretched position with assistance move to a static position and isometrically contract the muscles for 7-20s then relax for 20s
PNF (Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) stretching
static limb moved to the point of resistance and contract agonist isometrically against resistance for 6-10s the muscle relaxes and then the limb moves further
Dynamic stretching
Involves moving parts of your body and gradually increasing reach and speed of movement
Ballistic stretching
trying to force a part of the body beyond its ROM with rapid repeated bouncing
How many seconds and reeditions?
Always go for 10 because its included in each stretch
