A
Slide two fingers into the groove between the trachea and the muscle at the side of the neck

CPR procedure
A
Ensure that the victim is lying on their back on a firm flat surface and then:
- Kneel at the side of the victim (between the shoulder and the head)
- Place the heel of one hand on the center of the victim’s bare chest between the nipples
- Place the heel of your other hand on the top of the first hand
- Straighten your arms and position your shoulders directly over your hands
- `Push hard and push fast. Press the chest 5 cm (2 inches) downward with each compression. Shallow compressions may not produce adequate blood flow
- At the end of each compression, ensure that you allow the chest to recoil or re-expand completely. An incomplete chest recoil will reduce the blood-flow
- Deliver compressions at a rate of at least 100 compressions per minute and,

Check for breathing
A
(take at least 5 seconds but no more than 10 secs)
- Look for the chest to rise and fall
- Feel for breaths on your skin
- Listen for the sound of breathing
- If there is no breathing, give 2 normal breaths

Performing Mouth-to-Mouth Breathing
A
- Pinch the nose closed with your thumb and index finger
- Take a normal breath and tightly seal your lips around the victim’s mouth
- Give one breath (blow for 1 second). Watch for the chest to rise.
- Give a second breath. Watch for the chest to rise.

- Position yourself at the victim’s side
