Precautions of BCF

A
  1. Do not hold the unit at more than 45o from vertical or else the flow could stop.
  2. The effective range of the extinguisher is 4 to 6 ft. (2 meters).
  3. If the extinguisher is to be discharged in the Flight Deck or in a confined space, appropriate protective
    breathing equipment must be used.
  4. BCF (HALON 1211) can be used to fight Class A, B and C fires. If used on Class A Fires saturate
the area with water immediately afterwards as fire may reignite due to residual heat.
  5. When the BCF (HALON 1211) comes into contact with the fire, the flames will appear to grow larger.
This is a normal and temporary reaction before the chemical suppresses the fire.

71
Q

Features of AVOX PO

A
  1. It contains 311 litres of useable oxygen.
  2. The unit is fitted with a single swivel outlet capable of providing oxygen at 4 Lpm (HI) and 2 Lpm (LO), a swivel pressure gauge and an ON/OFF Knob.
  3. A Rotatable flow selector is located on the top of the neck. A mechanical detent is felt when the knob is adjusted to either flow setting.
72
Q

A
  1. Correct stowage and quantity, check validity,
  2. Pressure gauge reads minimum 1500-psi,
  3. Mask in a pouch attached to the bottle and connected,
  4. Carrying strap is attached and free of twists.
73
Q

Operations of AVOX PO

A
  1. Check Servicability.
  2. Remove PO bottle from location
  3. Place the cylinder-carrying strap around the neck and shoulder (like a guitar) - ensure the pressure
    gauge is in view,
  4. Remove the mask from its pouch,
  5. Rotate the flow selector in the required direction and check the flow indicator window for the desired
flow rate (2 LPM or 4 LPM) from the outlet.
  6. Rotate the ON/OFF knob to the ON position.
  7. Check that oxygen is flowing by squeezing the reservoir bag or check the inline flow indicator,
  8. Fit the mask over the nose and mouth, adjusting the elastic headband, and breathe normally, and
  9. Check the pressure gauge periodically to observe depletion of contents. Discontinue use when the
    pressure falls to 500 psi.
74
Q

Duration of AVOX PO

A
HI outlet (4 Lpm) 77 mins
LO Outlet (2 Lpm) 154 mins
75
Q

If a ___ is accompanying the customer, they will be responsible for the administration of oxygen on board.
Ensure the unit is secured on board at all times whilst being used.

A

medically qualified doctor or nurse

76
Q

Precautions of Oxygens to Infants

A
  1. Hold the mask away from the infant’s nose and mouth,
  2. Use the LO outlet (2 litres per minute, unless advised otherwise by a medical personnel), and
  3. It is advisable to page for a doctor.
77
Q

Precautions of Oxygen to Adults

A
  1. Enforce ‘no smoking’ around the location where oxygen is being used,
  2. If time permits remove all make-up from the user’s face,
  3. Establish and check the oxygen flow before applying the mask,
  4. Have a stand-by set ready for immediate use,
  5. Masks are NOT gas-tight so an oxygen/air mix is breathed. DO NOT USE A PO BOTTLE IN A SMOKE FILLED ENVIRONMENT,
  6. Discontinue using the oxygen bottle when the contents gauge falls to 500 psi. This will avoid bottle contamination and allow easy refilling by Maintenance and the bottle can be used for post decompression walk-around by Cabin Crew, and
  7. In post decompression cruise the low flow outlet must be used and the high flow outlet should be used for therapeutic purposes.
78
Q

Inserting the mask connector into the outlet, with the control valve ON, starts the oxygen flowing.

A

Removal of the mask connector stops the oxygen.

79
Q

82
Q

Inflation is from an integral CO2 gas cylinder and is achieved by pulling a tag when required. Equipment fitted on a lifejacket includes

A
  1. Two mouth pieces, which can be used to inflate the life jacket orally if the CO2 system fails and for topping up if pressure is lost. The LJ can be deflated by pressing down inside the mouthpiece with a small object i.e., nail/pen,
  2. A light powered by water activated battery.
83
Q

Lifejacket - Features

A
  1. Adjustable Waist Straps
  2. Vest Locator Light, & Water Activated Battery
  3. CO2 Inflation Cylinder
  4. Oral Inflation Tube
84
Q

Lifejackets are sealed in a plastic bag and placed in a container under each passenger and crew seat, which is readily accessible.

A

In the flyadeal aircraft cabin the lifejacket is located beneath the seat.

85
Q

Passenger lifejackets are ___. Crew lifejackets are __.

A
yellow
Orange (Bright Red)
86
Q

When fitting a lifejacket make sure that the inflation toggles at the bottom of the LJ are kept clear of the __. There is a risk of tearing the fabric and inflating the LJ prematurely.

A

seat belt or harness

87
Q

When evacuating from a ditched aircraft through a main cabin door,
.

A

inflate the LJ just before going out of the aircraft.

88
Q

When evacuating out of an over wing exit or through a Flight Deck DO NOT inflate the LJ until outside the aircraft as __

A

movement will be restricted and the lifejacket may be damaged

89
Q

The Adult/Child life jacket can be used for an individual weighing ___

A

16 kilograms or 35 pounds and above.

90
Q

Pre-Flight Check of LJ

A
  1. Correct stowage and quantity at crew station,
  2. Percentage Check in the Passenger Cabin (min 10% of passenger seats across the cabin in aeach

Q

They are for the use for infants/children weighing less than 16 kilograms or 35 pounds.

A

Infant lifejackets

93
Q

Inflation is from two CO2 cylinders and two mouthpieces are fitted for oral inflation.

A

A lifting tape with a lifeline and toggle are attached so that the user can be grasped easily and secured to an adult.

94
Q

Pre flight check of ILJ

A

Correct stowage and quantity, check validity.

95
Q

Fitting and Inflation

A
  1. Remove from Location,
  2. Tear open Pouch & remove lifejacket from the Pouch,
