Explain 1st,2nd and 3rd degree burns.
1st- red skin,mild pain
2nd-red skin,blisters, severe pain
3rd-charred black skin,may or may not be painful due to nerve damage
3 methods of controlling bleeding?
- direct pressure
- pressure points
- tourniquet
treatment for suicide attempt?
dont leave patient alone and treat any wounds appropriately
Describe symptoms and treatment for a joint dislocation.
Rapid swelling,discoloration,severe pain, shock
loosen clothing,place victim in comfortable position,
support injured part,treat for shock,get medical help
Explain when and why a cold or heat pack would be used on a sprain.
apply within the first 24 to 48 hours to reduce swelling and control internal hemorrhage
Explain first 5 steps of cpr.
- check for responsiveness
- check for breathing(5-10 seconds)
- start cpr(30 compressions,2 breaths)
- lay patient on side if breathing normally
- check for other injuries
