Electrical Flashcards
What effects can electrical shock have on the human body?
- Disrupts bodys normal functions
- can stop heart, lungs or both
- cause severe injury
- death
What are the types of voltages?
- AC(alternating current)
- DC(Direct current)
Name the sources of AC power for the aircraft?
-IDG
-APU generator
-External Power
—Static inverter
What are the sources of DC power for the aircraft?
- Batteries
- Transformer Rectifier
What is the unit of measure for electrical current?
Amps
What are the 2 batteries utilized on the aircraft?
- Main battery
- Auxiliary battery
What is the output of the IDG?
Produces 115 VAC,3 Phase, 400 HZ,Rated up to 180 KVA or 522 Amps.
What is resistance?
Causes an opposition to the flow of electricity in a circuit
What is Ohms law?
The current through a conductor between 2 points is directly proportional to the voltage across the 2 points
What is frequency?
The # of complete alternations per second of an AC circuit
What is an electrical bus?
A central point at which either AC or DC voltage is distributed throughout multiple systems
What is a circuit breaker?
Push-pull type, overcurrent protection device that is resettable
What is a fuse?
A overcurrent protection device that is for one time use only
What is a relay?
An electrically actuated switch used to control the distribution of electricity in a circuit
What is the purpose of the TRU’s ?
Receives 115 VAC,400 HZ electrical power & converts it to provide a nominal 28 vdc to airplane systems that require DC power
